About the artwork:
After venturing into almost total abstraction, I began to explore other styles, and that's when I found myself admiring Cubist and Expressionist art. Suddenly, I realized that the two things worked very well together. It represents a moment of innovation and experimentation, one of the first steps in the maturation of my authorial art. Influenced by the essential aspects of Cubism and Expressionism, I developed a style that I call Express-Cubism. With this style, I seek to portray everyday scenes, whether using real references or things from my imagination, exploring different viewpoints and perspectives. Each element of the image presents a distinct perspective, while the human figures also incorporate a bit of Cubist figuration, in which the figures appear fragmented, yet still in unity. Expressionism is presented in using these visual representations to represent what one feels and understands from these experiences, instead of the figures themselves. With this series, I don't want to represent things, but the experiences we have with them.
Concepts of the artwork:
In this artwork, I represent a solitary figure under deep pressure, seeking solutions in his personal habits and tastes, but his eyes, which gaze beyond the painting, know that the answer lies beyond his reality.
The narrative shows the passage of time that emphasizes the static state of this violinist. An entire dawn stopped in time while time does not stop. Instrumentalizing his anguish with his friend, the violin. Totally alone in the company of his plant. Tuning his violin to sing the woes of his out-of-tune life. His hat can no longer hide his head, because it is exposed, vulnerable, and defenseless. The windows of the soul cry out for salvation, but the walls of the body persist in momentary reliefs, which last all dawn, but do not remain.
